Community Schools will re-open in the Fall of 2000!!
Overview
The Community Schools program has been a viable
recreation site for 21 years in Seward. This is a cooperative agreement
among Seward schools, the Kenai Peninsula School District, and Seward Parks
& Recreation. Each year the proram is dependant upon a grant from the
School District which is matched locally from the Seward City Council.
The concept of Community Schools is to provide recreational, educational,
social, and cultural activities to the whole community through the use
of the school building during the evening hours. "Neighbors teaching neighbors"
offers something for everyone at Community Schools.
The 1999-2000 Community Schools season has come to an end. Rebecca Garcia did a wonderful job as the Community Schools Coordinator this year offering a wide array of programs for the public to enjoy. We will miss her dearly as she spends a few years with the wind in her hair sailing to exotic locals. We wish Rebacca fair weather and smooth sailing! See Ya Red.

Community Schools offers a variety of classes such as martial arts, fencing, crafts, and dog obedience. Class fees apply and also vary. We are always looking for community members to teach classes and run programs that bring their special skills to the rest of the community. If you have a special skill or talent that you would like to share with others, please contact Community Schools and we can help you with all the logistics.
