How to get here. As you come into town on the Seward Highway, you'll pass the Seward Chamber of Commerce Visitor's Center on your right. Keep going past  the Alaska State Flag memorial which is on your right at the corner of Dairy Hill Lane. The Highway becomes Third Avenue as you pass the cross streets to the Small Boat Harbor. Turn left on "D" Street. Waterfront Park runs the length of Seward along Ballaine Boulevard.

Utility Sites. We have 22 "utility" sites with water and electrical hook-ups. These few sites with individual picnic tables are in high demand. Sites are filled on a first-come, first served basis. Current prices are $15 per night.

Tent Camping. Tents are allowed in any campground. Two designated "Tent Only" areas have been established aside along Ballaine Boulevard. Currently tent fees are $6 per tent each night. Camping is only allowed on designated sites. We do not allow more than two tents per site.

RV Camping. Recreational Vehicles are welcome in designated municipal camping areas. The City of Seward has six locations: Iditarod, Resurrection North & South, Mini-Park (utility sites), Marathon, and Seaview; all within Waterfront Park. Along Ballaine Boulevard you'll find two picnic pavilions, restrooms, garbage dumpsters, the shower house and Adams Street Recreation area.

Caravan Camping. Caravans are camping groups of 10 units or more with one designated trip coordinator. Groups wishing to stay together can make a reservation and will be assigned a specific area.   Group tent camping areas are available in the Forest Acres Campground.  Reservations must be made in writing at least 30 days in advance. Pre-paymant is required. You may call for availability (907-224-4055).

Other Locations. In addition you may choose Forest Acres Park & Campground off Hemlock Street along the Seward highway. this park is less crowded and surrounded by spruce, cottonwood and alders. Forest Acres Park has restrooms, a playground, tennis court, basketball courts, Fort Raymond memorial, Seward Sanitarium memorial, and a moto cross bike track. Some low areas are very muddy and hazardous for RVs; Vehicles must stay on designated, gravel paths.  Camping is also available at Spring Creek campgournd, 5 miles down Nash Road.  Spring Creek campground offers a scenic view of Seward from across the bay.  No water available.

How to Register.  All campgrounds require patrons to self-register. Stop at the bulletin boards located at one of the many campground entrances. Take a permit / envelope, fill out both the envelope and the attached permit. Compute your camping fees with the chart on the bulletin board ($6 per tent; $10 per RV; or $15 for utility site). Deposit your fee in the envelope provided and drop into the metal tubular strong box. Display your remaining permit on your window facing the access road. Park staff checks permits daily. Campers are required by city ordinance to self register.

July 3, 4, & 5.  Special rates will apply these days.  They are as follows $10 per tent; $12 per RV and/or $12 per RV site; or $17 for utility site. Independence day weekend is a very popular and busy time in Seward.  If you are planning a trip down for the celebration it is best to come as early as possible for the best camping spots.



FAQ's

Q: How long can I stay in one spot?
A: A 14-day stay limit is enforced, you may move to any other designated area for an additional two weeks if you choose.

Q: Is there an RV sewer dump station nearby?
A: A dump station is available on Ballaine Blvd, just south of the playground and ballfield areas.

Q: Are pets allowed in the campgrounds?
A: Yes, Pets are allowed , but must be tied with a leash of 6 feet or less.

Q: Is there a check-out time?
A: Check-out time is 4pm.

Q: Can I make a reservation for the campground?
A: Reservations are not available. Sites are available on first come first serve basis only.

Q: Is it difficult to find a campling spot?
A: Our busiest times are the week of July 4th, and during the Silver Salmon Derby the 3rd week of August.  Other than these times, it is not difficult to find an available tent/RV site.
